The Operations Manager provides direct leadership to the Operations team, and supports team and organizational objectives through resource allocation, decision making, problem solving and customer service.  The incumbent must be a seasoned professional who can inspire trust in the field as well as in the office.

Based out of our Hamilton office, the Operations Manager will ensure our Customers are well serviced and issues are addressed in a timely and professional manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary experience in business, engineering technology or similar and/or professional development activities an asset
  • 10+ years in Road Construction, specifically within the Traffic Management industry
  • Strong leadership skills gained through 5+ years of leading teams in a similar environment
  • Exceptional knowledge of Book 7, OHSA, CVOR compliance, ESA, Highway Traffic Act, and CBA
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  • Well-honed decision making and problem-solving skills
  •  Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety
  • Available outside of regular business hours; some evening and weekend work is required

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the allocation of resources to ensure projects are completed as per project plans
  • Provide leadership to direct reports including resource allocation, performance management, and employee relations while adhering to the CBA and applicable legislation; collaborate with HR Manager (or designate) as appropriate
  • Identify high potential employees and execute/facilitate training and development plans to support employee growth and promotion
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Manager (or designate) to actively recruit employees through the season and as needed to support business needs
  • Develop and facilitate training to new hires
  • Regularly visit work sites and interact with employees and customers on sites; promote good customer service
  • Act as primary operational point of contact regarding Union issues and concerns
  • Provide leadership and work collaboratively with the Safety Manager to ensure employee training, legislative compliance, site safety, availability of prescribed PPE etc. are maintained as required
  • Oversee the flow of paperwork including worksheets and tickets and ensure completion
  • Facilitate Operations meetings and complete assigned tasks
  • Create reports as required
