Reporting to the President/CEO, the VP, Operations provides a high level of leadership to the Operations team, and supports team and organizational objectives through project management, resource allocation, decision making, problem solving and customer service.  The incumbent must be a professional who can inspire trust in the field as well as in the office.

As part of the Executive Team, the VP, Operations will work with the President/CEO, Head Estimator and Controller to review business needs, requirements, performance etc.

Based out of our Hamilton office, the VP, Operations will ensure our Customers are well serviced and issues are addressed in a timely and professional manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  •        Post-secondary education in business, engineering technology or similar or equivalent experience
  •        15+ years in Road Construction, or another relevant industry
  •        Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  •        Strong leadership skills gained through 8+ years of leading teams in a similar environment
  •        Well-honed decision making and problem-solving skills
  •        Ability to work under pressure
  •        Strong attention to detail
  •        Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  •        Demonstrated commitment to health and safety
  •        Available outside of regular business hours to support the needs of Customers and the business

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •        Provide leadership to direct reports including performance management, and resource allocation
  •        Interact with Customers and provide a high level of service
  •        Analyze projects
  •        Analyze fleet decisions
  •        Lead monthly Operations meetings including assigning action items and following up on issues
  •        Regularly meet with the President/CEO to discuss business opportunities, challenges, projects etc.
  •        Collaborate with the Controller regarding financial information, details and requirements
  •        Create regular reports (monthly, fleet maintenance costs, strategic goals, fleet maintenance costs) and ad hoc reports as required
  •        Coordinate facility needs at all locations operated by the business
